MEMBERSHIP IN EAU
The Academy independently determines the terms of membership, the number and structure of management, taking into account the legislation of Ukraine. The Academy includes full members (academicians), corresponding members, Honorary and Foreign members, academic advisors. The members of the Academy are citizens of Ukraine and other countries with higher education who have made a significant contribution to the development of science, technology and engineering.
Full members of the Academy, as a rule, are elected corresponding members, in which outstanding scientific achievements, implemented in practice, associated with highly effective scientific and technical developments.
Corresponding members of the Academy are elected, as a rule, academic advisers from among well-known scientists and engineers who have increased the overall potential of Ukraine with significant achievements and practical engineering developments that have high scientific, technical and economic efficiency, and also made a great personal contribution to the organization of science, engineering, technology and development and industry in general.
With the aim of wide involvement of the engineering community in the activities of the Academy, the Institute of Academic Advisers of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine was created. Academic advisors are, as a rule, elected by scientists and engineers from among specialists with recognized and implemented in practice research and development.
Academic advisers are elected by voting at the general meeting of regional departments and approved by the Presidium of the Academy.
Citizens of Ukraine and other countries are elected honorary members of the Academy for outstanding services to the Engineering Academy of Ukraine, who have made a significant contribution to the development of science, technology and engineering.
Scientists and engineers from other countries who have made a significant contribution to strengthening scientific cooperation with scientists of Ukraine are elected as foreign members of the Academy.
Proposals for candidates for Honorary and Foreign Members of the Academy are submitted by the Presidium.
Honorary and Foreign Members of the Academy enjoy all the rights of full members of the Academy.
The election of Honorary and Foreign Members is by open ballot. The elections of individual members of the Academy are carried out in accordance with this Charter and the Regulations on elections to the Engineering Academy of Ukraine, which is approved by the General Meeting of the Academy.
Full members, corresponding members pay annual membership fees, the amount of which is determined by the General Meeting of the Academy.
Members of the Academy are obliged:
- enrich science and technology with new achievements and developments;
- to promote the implementation of the achievements of science and technology in production;
- take an active part in the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Academy;
- contribute to the enhancement of the prestige and increase in the financial and material capabilities of the Academy to expand the scale of its activities;
- strictly comply with the requirements of the Charter, comply with the decisions of the governing bodies of the Academy.
Members of the Academy have the right:
- enjoy the support of the Academy in expanding the scale and improving its activities, as well as creative, financial and other types of assistance;
- submit for consideration by the General Meeting, the Presidium of the Academy, metings of departments and sections of scientific and organizational and technical issues;
- discuss issues of the Academy’s activities and make proposals for improving its work;
- take part in the General Meeting, the work of sections and commissions, conferences and seminars held by the Academy, submit their scientific works in the collections of the Academy.
Full Members, Corresponding Members, Honorary and Foreign Members have rite a decisive vote when considering all issues of the Academy. They can be elected and be elected to all the governing bodies of the Academy.
Academic advisers have a decisive vote in all matters falling within the competence of the departments of which they are members.
Full members and corresponding members are members of one of the sections of the Academy. They can move from one section to another with the consent of both sections of the Academy. Full members, corresponding members, academic advisers annually send information about their activities to the relevant departments, at the meeting of which an appropriate assessment of their work is given.
Members of the Academy retain the right to freely withdraw from the Academy in accordance with the submitted application. These rules and regulations do not apply to the President and Vice-Presidents of the Academy. Their membership in the Academy terminates from the day following the day of the election of a new president or vice-presidents.
On the initiative of the regional branches, the withdrawal from the Academy can be carried out, namely:
- in connection with death;
- in the case of bringing a member of the Academy to criminal liability upon confirmation of guilt by the judicial authorities;
- in case of failure to comply with the requirements of the Charter of the Academy and loss of communication with it.
The decision to leave or withdraw from the Academy is made by the General Meeting of the Academy.
During the existence of the Academy, 630 academicians and 804 corresponding members were elected as full members of the Academy. Honorary members of the Academy are 13 citizens of both Ukraine and foreign countries. Foreign members of the Academy – 33 citizens from 16 countries.
